My dd uses a LitterMaid and had to turn it off because she had 5 cats and it would try to scoop out the next cat to use the facilities. What if they hop back in to do a bit more? I hate the sensor toilets that give you a shower while still sitting there. Some of the cats put out more that the Maid could handle also. Still, they wouldn’t have been around so long if no one likes them. Might be perfect for you.
The Vet I work for said they only skim the top really and you have to empty it frequently (daily) or it will really smell, said it doesn’t cut down on odors at all.
Hi there…I have one client who uses it, however she noted that one of her cats likes to urinate in the corner so it tends to jam up the cleaning mechanism. Therefore, she has to personally clean the box more often than the box itself does so this may be another problem for some cat owners looking to purchase a self-cleaning litter box. Another issue is that some cats become frightened by the mechanism and will avoid using the box…having accidents elsewhere in the home.
I dont like them as many cats are afraid of them, and the sensor doesnt always work well for timing, especially for multiple or finicky cats.
I haven’t. I am afraid they’d freak out my cats, who are both pretty shy and fearful of things. Once you scare a cat, they will associate the fear with the place it happened, and I don’t have a big enough place to move the litter box to another location, if that happened. I just use a nice sized litter box with clumping litter in it, and I scoop out the clumps, etc., every evening and sweep up anything they’ve tracked around the box at the same time. If you have something that your cat(s)’s using, I wouldn’t mess with success. I see soooo may Qs on here from people with cats who no longer want to use the litter box. That would be a far worse problem to me than having to scoop/sweep each evening.
Hope that helps.
no they’re very small, and it can end up smelling because poop and pee sits in a bag for who knows how long. it’s really not worth it.
My g/f has one. She likes it. I dont know what brand it is.
