Does anyone use an automatic litter box?

My husband and I are considering getting an automatic litter box for our two cats. We were just wondering what people's experiences have been with them and which one they would recommend. We religiously clean the boxes we have (twice a day), but it still seems that we need to clean them more. Is the convenience worth the upfront cost? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

My beautiful Mink Seal Mitted Ragdoll

My new cat, a beautiful mink seal mitted ragdoll. Meaning she is the seal (brown) color and she has the white mitts and very soft fur like a mink stole. She's over a year old so she's still a kitten at heart. She will be demonstrating how the automatic cat litter box called Scoop Free works. It's a wonderful product! Usually new cats/kittens take days, week or so to warm up to the new owner and place but she has been with me for only 3 days now and seems very happy and playful :) *sorry in advance for the poor video quality and annoying static background noise... I used my Logitech webcam to film this........

I have always litter maid boxes, I don't care for the plastic containers that the litter is dumped into, gets quite messy (litter falls thru the cracks) and have had one that just stopped working after warranty ran out and another that completely jammed. So I'm thinking of trying a new brand. Scoop free seems expensive to maintain. Any recommendations that have worked well for you? I have two cats and one is pretty big!

I have 2 cats. I purchased the Fresh Step Scoop Free Litter box. I am not able to get them to use the automatic litter box. The pamphlet tells you to leave te used litter box next to the new automatic litter box. Well, it smells gross after a few days... And, one cat will urinate elsewhere... while the other just goes in the dirty litter box. Please, help with any ideas. Thanks - much appreciated.

Littermaid automatic cat litter boxes tend to work very well, have powerful motors, last longer than in the past and often come with extra gadgets. Automatic Cat Feeder

Lee Holmes posted this automatic Cat feeder he built. Uses a CD ROM. Here's the quote: I have two wonderful cats, and many wonderful neighbours. Naturally, for my vacation, I combined the best of both worlds and had one of the neighbours watching my cats. Despite this, I didn't want to force my neighbours to come over twice a day to feed the cats. So I sought out to make an automated cat feeder and water dispenser out of parts lying around the house. As for the cat litter? That's fine -- that can be left to stupid humans :) Description here: www.leeholmes.com

My cat has asthma and clumping litter makes his symptoms worse. I would like to use automatic box because I have a dog who loves to snack on litter. I also work 16 hr days and sometimes come home to find a full litter box (2 cats)

My roommate has two cats and she believes that the automatic litter box scoopers need a special type of litter besides just regular clumping. Does anyone own one or know anything about them?
